Sentence Structure (2nd part)

Hi, Due to natural disaster and heavy rainfall I have lost my net connection. So, I apologize to you, friends, whom I was committed ho help. Now, I am going to describe about something that you must know about English. :)
An English sentence usually has two parts. They are
1) subject and
2) predicate.
About which/ whom we talk in a sentence is the subject. For example, "She is beautiful. "
Here, I am talking about 'she'. So, she is the subject here. Similarly, I am a man. Here 'I' is the subject. The tree is tall. Here 'the tree' is the subject.
Now, what is predicate. What we say about the subject is the predicate in the sentence. For example, She is beautiful. Here, she is the subject, and 'is beautiful ' are now predicate, because it was said about subject.
In simple, the later parts or next parts of subject is predicate. Example, She likes noodles. Here, 'she' is subject and 'likes noodles' is predicate.
Note:
* subject is the 1st part of a sentence, and predicate is the 2nd part.
Now, you can understand how easy English is. If you want to speak in English, there are only two steps. Find out the subject first, like you want to say something about your friend, then your friend is the subject.
Say, My friend. :)
What do you want to say about him/ her????
is a good person.
is a bad person.
is very clever.
is very smart.
Then, all these are predicate. You might say
My friend is a doctor.
My friend is busy now.
My friend likes games.
My father is an angry man.
My brother teaches me English.
An apple is good for health.
Students are playing in the field.
They are singing songs.
I think you enjoyed my lesson. It is a very basic level grammar lesson. If you think it useful, please find out the subjects and predicates of the above sentences. You can write some more examples below. And comment please if you don't understand. I will try to write next lessons soon. Thank you. May Allah help you. :)

How to Practice English Speaking for The Beginners: Some Simple and Easy Tips

Dear friends, you may be concerned about speaking English. Specially when you are not a native speaker of English, you may find it difficult to speak fluently like a native speaker. Actually it needs more and more practice to develop English speaking. Then, I am going to share some tips on "how you can practice English Speaking" from my experience.

* Monologue: I believe monologue is the best way to develop English speaking skill for the people who are new and weak in English. Monologue is the way to practice anything with yourself. You do not need any partner to practice English. You can be your own partner. So, start practicing with yourself first. When you are alone in your room, start talking with yourself. You can write some topics or questions. Then speak on it; give their answers. You can also use mirrors or selfie camera. You can also record.
When you are outside, sitting or walking on the road, put your headphone on your ear, and start speaking. I do this many times. I do not be bored when I am walking alone. I talk with myself. That is very funny to me. I describe everything what I see around the place. ( People think that I am talking over phone ).

* Find some partners who are also interested to speak. This may be through social medias, or face to face conversation. You may be shy or your partner may be shy initially. Then allow him/ her to speak like him/ her. Do not correct them at the beginning. They will gradually understand and speak well. And if you are shy, just keep listening, make simple and easy questions to participate in the conversation. Later you will be free and comfortable to speak automatically.

* Watch movies, and listen radio: It's a one way communication, but very effective. when we watch a movie it influences on our brain. You keep thinking about the stories and scenes that you watched in the movies. Interesting thing is that it also happens about language. Language also works on your brain. That time you can easily speak in English. You can remember the dialogues and speaking styles. So, after watching a movie do not stay idle. Start speaking.

* Story telling: story telling is a very effective way. When you meet your partner, tell him a story that you have learned from movies or books. It is a long description opportunities. That time you can understand how many new sentences are to be made, and how many new vocabularies to be learned. You can make reviews of any movies or books. Keep recording those stories, and reviews.

These were all for today. I will try to share more. If you have any questions or further clarification, feel free to ask me commenting below. Thank you everybody.

Hanson PLC: The Acquisition Machine

Hanson PLC: The Company’s Structure and Control Systems and How They Match Its Strategy

Strategic Control System- Matrix Structure:
From the organizational structure of 1986 we can find that the organization has two main subsidiaries. They are
o   Hanson PLC (UK) and
o   Hanson Industries (USA)
Hanson PLC looks after the British operations and Hanson Industries looks after the US operations. The control system of these subsidiaries are autonomous. Each of the subsidiaries is headed by a single director.
Central Level:
In the two subsidiaries few central staffs are responsible for monitoring the performance of the subsidiaries. They are also responsible for
  • Ø  Selecting and motivating operating management,
  • Ø  The treasury functions,
  • Ø  Acquisitions and disposals and
  • Ø  Professional services such as legal and taxation.

Divisional Level:
Divisional levels are headed by Divisional CEOs. These divisional levels are actually the groups of operating companies under the two main subsidiaries. The CEOs of the operating companies are responsible to the directors. Although Sir Gordon White did not look after this directly, rather he gave the responsibility to his right hand David Clarke. In the meantime White was primarily concerned with the company’s acquisitions.

Main Principles of Control System of Hanson:
Decentralization: in the Hanson operating companies all the day to day operating decisions are decentralized to the management of the operating companies. The management has unlimited autonomy. They are mainly responsible for the return on capital that they employ.

Tight Financial Control: in the company financial control is achieved through two devices
1.      Operating budgets: the operating company managers submit an operating budget to the corporate center for the coming year. After reviewing and consulting with operating management, the corporate staffs approve the budget which is then followed strictly.
2.      Capital expenditure policies: the operating company managers plan a capital expenditure plan which are then challenged by the central staffs. Later, it is accepted or rejected.

Incentive Systems: the organization shares profit with the management of the operating companies. A manager can earn up to 60% of his/her base salary after filling up a certain target.

Board Structure: the organization’s policy is that ‘no operating company managers can be appointed to the board of the subsidiaries. It eliminates any kind of conflict of interest.

De-emphasizing Operating Synergy: the organization is less serious about utilizing operating synergies. Hanson actually believes that this may cause inefficiency when each other may blame for their poor performance.
